VED, Tendencias en diseño

In this edition, the last of 2016, VED, LIVING DESIGN (Costa Rica), reviews the design trends projected for 2017. These trends sometimes begin years before and extend into the future with some changes or slight modifications, and their range of action is felt in all fields of social, cultural, or market activity.

Through research and consensus, carried out by different actors, influencers, or analysts of the currents that impact their relevance in the different fields of design, art, clothing, eno-gastronomy, color, or different lifestyles, VED proposes 5 different trends that have been named:

  • Innovative Nostalgia: The influence of previous styles, novelly rethought, can be seen as handwritten or cursive writing reappears, along with a particular style called “vintage.”
  • Permeable Organic: Increasingly, the organic, recycled, and sustainability have ceased to be a fashion or trend and have become a necessity or inherent characteristic of any activity carried out.
  • Subcutaneous Virtuality: The Internet of things, artificial intelligence, and the power of social networks have blurred the lines between tangible reality and virtual unreality.
  • Minimalist Saturation: The absence of excesses falls into a void saturated with extremes.
  • Structured Spontaneity: This causes masses to be uniformed with the utopian feeling of style or individuality. The world is one, and within it, brands are dictators.

The Solution

Based on these concepts, a new aesthetic was rethought for the magazine, using saturation and digital collage techniques as resources.

Tropical insects laden with color, metallic patterns that attempt to create a mimicry of nature, retro objects that transport us to the past, pastel color palettes, textures, and manual illustrations with a contemporary character are part of an edition filled with design, where each page tells a story; beyond a trend, it is a visual experience.

The primary objective of this magazine was to create a visual guide that would allow the reader to immerse themselves in the new proposals in design, decoration, interior design, architecture, landscaping, and lifestyle in the region.
